❖ ICAEW agrees that appropriately qualified ICAI members will be eligible to apply for
ICAEW membership subject to passing the ICAEW’s Pathways “Examination of
Experience”.
❖ To facilitate above, ICAEW will grant ICAI members who hold full membership for
minimum five years, CPE hours up to date and hold a good disciplinary record.
❖ For the avoidance of doubt an ‘appropriately qualified member’ is one who has gained
membership of the ICAI as an associate member or fellow member through completion
of ICAI’s education and training route.
❖ ICAI members who are members of ICAI by virtue of an advanced credit MoU or
mutual recognition agreement with another professional body will not be eligible for
ICAEW membership under this agreement unless specifically approved by ICAEW.
❖ Eligibility for ICAI Members to apply under this scheme
➢ Must have gained membership of ICAI through the normal education and training
route,
➢ Must have at least five years of full membership,
➢ Fully compliant with the continuing professional (CPD) requirements,
➢ Must be a member in good standing,
➢ Application is supported by an eligible sponsor: Who must be a fully qualified
individual who holds full membership of a professional body that is an International
Federation of Accountants (IFAC) full member body, and who is in good standing,
is compliant with the CPD requirements of that body and who has a good
disciplinary record with no complaints outstanding against them.

❖ Pathways Examination of Experience
To demonstrate that candidate are qualified by experience and meet the appropriate
criteria for membership of ICAEW, they are required to complete the Pathways
Examination of Experience. This Examination is a rigorous assessment that requires
to demonstrate the same professional skills as those that are examined in the ACA
Case Study – the final exam taken by ACA students before being invited into ICAEW
membership.
