Background for the formation of IA Committee
The Institute, since its inception, has always been very active in all major International developments affecting the accountancy profession around the globe. As a matter of record, it participated regularly in several international conferences organized by International Accounting bodies and other regional accounting organsations and has organized many events of these bodies in India. The interaction with these bodies not only provided unique opportunity to Indian representatives to have first-hand experience of the latest developments but also helped in promoting mutual appreciation and understanding.
ICAI had set up the International Affairs Committee in 1982 under the chairmanship of CA. Ashok Kumbhat, the then President of ICAI with an objective to maintain close liaison with various international organizations and to enhance the global
presence of ICAI.
